SCoRe!

I am just showing you a few SCORES of mine...that happened recently.
The first was when I went to The Washington State Quilters meeting and got these two books for ...25 cents each!  All Magazines there are 25 cents too.

Then I won this....a door prize.  I have met Barri Sue at Quilt market....we both had a booth there.  She is soooooo sweet and nice.  I was thrilled when she said my eyes on my embroideries were so beautiful.  I have lots of her patterns and have always loved her style.
Thankfully I won a pattern I didn't have.
I give door prizes too at the meeting of my designs.
I have won lots of times.....out of hundreds of women...I'm lucky!
Here is the cute mohair baby bonnet that I got...for FREE.  I mentioned it the other day.
A nice lady gave me all kinds of goodies for free.
I am not sure if I want to keep it like it is or use it to make a small bear from a Gingermelon pattern.

This items was also free.
It kinda cracks me up...it is so strange.
I am thinking it was a clothes line thing...with clothes pins and such.
It is very large.
It is really old, with vintage fabrics and embroidery .....funny face!

The best part is the tiny feet....dangling from the bottom!

On another note....
I am adding some more thrifty embroidery patterns in my Thriftstitchin etsy shop.

I totally scored when a sweet lady said at the flea market...everything is free over here.

Sketching some more...addicted!

I just want to tell you ...that I am addicted to sketching!
It is so fun.
I want to make all of these into patterns and paintings!
There is just not enough time in the day.
My Frankenstein is a lil grumpy.  My butterfly is going to have a fabulous day!
I have always had a thing for Raggedy Ann....she is so sweet.  My mom made me Raggedy dolls with embroidered hearts long ago....wish I had them....but I played with them tell their arms and legs fell off.

Birthday bunny is invited to the party!
I love to draw big eyed girls and animals....not so good at lil boys.
Next time I will share some drawings that just didn't work out....but they are important because it shows what could have been changed to make it better....a learning experience.
-----------------------------------------------
I've had a really rough week....things are getting better now.
Why is it that many bad things happen at once....in a big pile of yuck!
Things are looking up...yeah!

Simply Vintage

Yeah!  So Happy to be in the latest Simply Vintage magazine by Quiltmania!  I have two projects in this one....several more projects coming up in other issues.  This is a French publication...printed in English of course.  All the projects are just beautiful...quality paper....tons of diagrams...a luxury magazine!  I'm sure it will be in Barnes and Noble soon!

It has my lil mouse embroidery pattern!

Always a thrill to see your name in print.

One design is a pillow....the other a pincushion scissors fob.

I sent my projects to France for them to photograph them.

Fun and easy

Just letting you see that there are plenty of diagrams, photos, and instructions.

This is one of my ads for the magazine....it was fun to make my own ad.
I've always designed my pattern covers, blog post, artwork...etc... so it wasn't very hard.
I guess all those computer classes were good after all...lol.
--------------------------------------------
Hope you have a fabulous day!

Sugar & creamer...freebies

Hey everyone...
It's Friday again!
I am soooo happy too.
I have spent 2 days in computer problems hell....
and things are much brighter now.
I felt like I was in Basic training again....tough tough tough.
The guys at HP and AOL are fabulous though.
I won't bore you with details (cause if I had to explain it again....I might just fall over dead)
but there were printer issues...mixed with computer problems, mixed with bad files...etc...
------------------------------------------
So happy to go to a sewing night at Charming Lu Lu's and see all the great gals there.....it was so much fun last time.  You just bring your sewing project.....a machine if you want, share great food and drink....talk and talk.
Perfect.

Being in magazines

The other day...while organizing my back room of my studio...
I found one bundle of magazines.
They are magazines I have been published in....I haven't seen these in ages.
I have been in a lot of magazines.....and try to keep a copy of each....even though it takes a lot of space.
I LOVED the Country Marketplace magazine.  Now they only publish Country Sampler.
I had a project on the cover of this one.

It was my country garden chenille pillow.
I embroidered in all black embroidery floss and then painted with watered down acrylic paint.

Here I made a fun black cat Halloween mat from wool.

I loved making things with fun foam(now I think...yuck)
these were post it note holders....with magnets on the back.

I made a scarecrow necklace purse.
Again it was stitched all in black, then painted

Lil witch pouch purse

Dream heart...funny to see how things change and evolve.

Bunny lamp in a silver pail.
I made a lot of these and sold them at craft shows.

Santa claws pillow

Little pins to wear.

and a Chenille snowman.
Remember when chenille was sooooo popular?
I still have a lot of it.
Will it come back?
I'll share more of my published designs some other time.
...............................
If you have designed something yourself...take a pic and send it through an email to a favorite magazine.
It is a blast to have your project published.
Some magazines pay money for a one time publishing (yay!), give advertising, or other compensations.
