Patriotic Tea Party!

I have created a Patriotic Tea Party!
This painting was a lot of fun and actually helped me get through some stressful times.
Art is very healing.
Sometimes just getting out the supplies on a big table gets you going!
I always start with a large canvas (hobby lobby was packs of them at great prices)
I take old papers and with a matte medium, apply them to the canvas.
Some of my old papers crack me up....I guess they lied about dieting stuff way back!
Terrible how this kind of fraud was allowed, but it still is really.
I like adding recipes and cartoons too.
Sometimes I glue some tissue paper too. You just have to apply these carefully so they don't wrinkle.
I drew a few ideas down....
from my sketch....I think it is a good idea to do this before hand.
I started adding paint...letting some of the old papers show through.
I really wanted the teapot to have a flag...because usually teapots have flowers or sweet designs...
I wanted it to be different.
Roses!
I work on one area, and then go to the next while it dries.
I sketched a spoon at the bottom.
Adding greenery.
Folk art is very forgiving....lol.
It's ok to make mistakes or be a little sloppy.
Things are coming together, but I didn't like all that space around the teapot.
Lots of shading....
coffee or tea?
I added a patriotic banner!
I slipped it in and I love it!
This is my process and I had so much fun.
This is a perfect project for a rainy day!
 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My daughter Selina ( with a fox camera app)....
She is a happy girl because she has a new laser machine and it works like a dream.
Her other machine broke down and caused all kinds of trouble... right after
quilt market!  Now she is almost completely caught up on all the orders and feeling much better!

When it rains ...it pours!
It's almost Father's Day!

Makes the perfect gift for Father's day
or when baby is born and there is a new daddy in the family.
Looks great hung up in the man cave.
This is a dollar store frame...painted white....so easy!

Hope you have an amazing weekend with your dad....your step-dad, your father in law, uncle, grandpa or cat daddy...lol.

This and that... plus sneaky peaky

Sneaky peaky time!
My next pattern is coming soon...and it's HAlloweeny!
This closeup sure shows my muslin and floss threads.
If you love embroidery....then you will love this one!
DMC gave me some cool color variations to work with.
It is like a rainbow for stitching!
I am thinking up all kinds of punch needle ideas....the variations would give great texture.
The blues would make great water scenes and ice/winter scenes.
I love the pinks however.
Early this summer I got this light box.
It is a cool light up sign that plugs in to a USB/plug in with adapter or batteries.
Last night we were playing with it alot.  You can change the letters...and write anything....My hubby made this sign for us.  I bought the flowery background to go with it.
This is going to be great at my quilt shows...in my living room as a fun sign and on my office shelf.
We had a terrible storm the other day...it came so fast and furious.
It was crazy wind, huge hail and caused alot of garden damage.
This above is my chives under tons of ice.
This is my little potting hutch outside...covered in ice...I had to get it off the plants...the temperature was cold too.
I had to scoop this stuff away from plants because it was not melting.

But now the temps are in the 90's....and going up....strange crazy weather!

Thanks with hearts tag freebie...plus color palettes

Sometimes the hardest thing to say is
Thanks.
Maybe this tag will make it easier!
This would be great to have a bunch ready for when you need them....grab and go.
Copy and save!

*Please note that all freebies are for you to use to make a couple finished goods (no mass producing) and a couple gifts...they are still legally my designs.
*************************************
I like to take flower pictures when I take my walk...they are so pretty and I can only plant so many...
I have the rockiest soil.
I love to find the color palettes in them and use them in adobe illustrator projects.
I can use these wonderful colors and not have to think about picking out all these colors.
These lavender plants are so fragrant and I love the shades of purple.
My daughter uses lavender to set her pendants in....the scent is great.
Wild white roses....these are a nice set of neutrals....which I hate picking.
I love collecting vibrant colors....but for good color combos ...you need these guys.

These are some of my favorite colors...so summery and seem like Popsicle flavors.
These also smelled fantastic.
I love pink!
I don't know what they are, but they were gorgeous!
Sometimes color palettes are great for painting, for home decor, for coloring in those cool coloring books and of course...for stitching or punchneedle!
I love the thought of getting out my DMC floss and finding these matches!

Happy
Weekend!

Little girls...

Thanks heaven ...for little girls!
I love drawing little girls and love creating designs with little girls.
I have such a strong bond to my own daughter...it is like we have forever known each other....
maybe it is because it seems she has an old soul.  If there is such a thing as a past live...she would definitely have been with me before.
Above it my patriotic girl...a combo of fabric applique (super easy) and embroidery.
This is a different shot of my "She lingers in the garden" quilt...
It has fabric applique and simple blocks background.
(The color is off on this pic...should have fixed it...sorry)
I love the simplicity of this one....it is a super fast embroidery....framed in a hoop.
This one reminds me of Cinderella...which has always been a big favorite of mine.
My dad used to call me "Cinderella Dorothy Queen"....my 3 favorite people...lol.

This design started out as a simple doodle in my sketchbook...I love finding my original sketch and seeing how it changed for my pattern.

Can you see the glitter on the wings and dress?
This is the "Vintage Garden party girl"...
I used some scraps of vintage fabric for this one...love her green eyes!
This pattern ...called True love lasts...comes with the 3 designs.
Her flowers have lots of little beads...very easy to add to the embroidery.
Sweet Witchy poo
She is definately not scary.
See the bat dropping off a candy corn to her...lol.
Speaking of little girls....
I have to show you my little girl's prom pictures (before prom).
She is a junior and she got all glammed up.
Here is the cute couple...Selina with her boyfriend.
A little nervous yet excited.
They danced all night...had a great time!
....
Now I feel really old!
Boo hoo
...................
Find a little time for yourself today!

Come to thrifty Thursday!  Come to the Pin me linky party!   Come to to the party bunch!

V is for Vegetables

This week's freebie is "V is for Vegetables"
Remember ...these would be sweet to stitch up in a kids quilt or on lil pillows.  For earlier letters in this series...go back to my past Friday posts. Fun to color as well. Copy and save.

Next week will be: "W is for ____"
Be the first to guess the correct answer to what "w" could stand for ....and you will get a sweet prize.
I warn you...."W" is a very hard one to guess right.
Just make your guess in the comment section of this blog post.
One guess per person to make it fair!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I found this tiny tip in a magazine from 1930....the year my mom was born....85 years ago.
I was her baby...She had me late...she was 38 years old.
When I had my baby 17 years ago...my mom died 20 days later....it was if I got my new BFF as my other BBF was leaving.

I like this tip...I think it is still useful!
--------------------------------------

that I put together!!
they all have one thing in common...
RED HEARTS.

Have a fun and fab weekend!
