Patriotic Tea Party!

I have created a Patriotic Tea Party!
This painting was a lot of fun and actually helped me get through some stressful times.
Art is very healing.
Sometimes just getting out the supplies on a big table gets you going!
I always start with a large canvas (hobby lobby was packs of them at great prices)
I take old papers and with a matte medium, apply them to the canvas.
Some of my old papers crack me up....I guess they lied about dieting stuff way back!
Terrible how this kind of fraud was allowed, but it still is really.
I like adding recipes and cartoons too.
Sometimes I glue some tissue paper too. You just have to apply these carefully so they don't wrinkle.
I drew a few ideas down....
from my sketch....I think it is a good idea to do this before hand.
I started adding paint...letting some of the old papers show through.
I really wanted the teapot to have a flag...because usually teapots have flowers or sweet designs...
I wanted it to be different.
Roses!
I work on one area, and then go to the next while it dries.
I sketched a spoon at the bottom.
Adding greenery.
Folk art is very forgiving....lol.
It's ok to make mistakes or be a little sloppy.
Things are coming together, but I didn't like all that space around the teapot.
Lots of shading....
coffee or tea?
I added a patriotic banner!
I slipped it in and I love it!
This is my process and I had so much fun.
This is a perfect project for a rainy day!
 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My daughter Selina ( with a fox camera app)....
She is a happy girl because she has a new laser machine and it works like a dream.
Her other machine broke down and caused all kinds of trouble... right after
quilt market!  Now she is almost completely caught up on all the orders and feeling much better!

When it rains ...it pours!
It's almost Father's Day!

Makes the perfect gift for Father's day
or when baby is born and there is a new daddy in the family.
Looks great hung up in the man cave.
This is a dollar store frame...painted white....so easy!

Hope you have an amazing weekend with your dad....your step-dad, your father in law, uncle, grandpa or cat daddy...lol.

A snowman is love freebie

Today's freebie design...
A snowman is love and laughter all rolled into one!
This would make a fun coloring page....gotta keep the kids busy during Christmas break!
Copy, save and print.

this is my brand new sign in my art etsy shop: ShirleyHudsonDesigns!
I love my 2 cups of coffee in the morning....plus being cheerful helps the day start great.

I drew on illustrator all the design elements... like the coffee cup, pine sprigs, berries and such then I played with color!
I also worked on added texture to it.... which is so much fun...it is like playing the computer and markers....hard to explain.
-----------------------------------------------
This is the pattern on sale this week only....
IT's only $2.99.
Celebrate this beautiful winter season...this punch needle design is perfect for your holiday & home decor or great as a gift! Variegated floss is used to give great texture and depth
What a cute box topper & handy to store little supplies, Gum balls or treats. This punches up fast & is very easy. The box is paper mache (1 Dollar at jo ann fabrics). The white trim is lovely.
Sweet treats indeed!
I am a sucker for gun balls.
It would also be cute with those gold coins or chocolate kisses.

Happy teddy freebie & Irish shenanigans

Everyone loves Teddy bears....and this is a really happy one.
So get your happy on.
I was recently stressed because our hot water pressure in our home was terrible...
I really thought we would have to pay thousands to solve everything...
it turned out to be just changing our hot water tank.
But I was so miserable.
Now that things are solved....I got my happy back!!!
It is amazing how attitude and problems solved can make us feel better.
This lil bear would make a cute tag!

Here I am showing them in my own home decor.
I got the goofy Irish gal above at a thrift store last year.
There are 9 different flash cards...this is an instant download..u print on 3 pieces of cardstock.
The words/phrases you get are: Shake your shamrocks, Ask me about my lucky charms, Lucky me I have you!, Kiss me...I 'm magically delicious, Let the shenanigans begin, eat drink and be irish, Smart sassy irish lassie, top o' the mornin' to ya, and you look like I need a drink (that one is pretty funny). Each one comes with a number and a shamrock on the corner. They measure: 7 1/4" x " x 3 1/8".

They are alot of fun just sitting them around the house.
Plus it is great for party decor....or to hold up for photo booths or pics at the party.
I like the total fun of this holiday...nothing should taken too seriously on this day.
She is a cute doll made by my friend R'chelle.
I put this one on a huge honeycomb hat.
This is on my piano....the bust is wearing one of my hats (my own pattern) and I thought this card was funny.
The hat says Party O'animal....lol
Fun dolls made from R'chelle and Sue....I have slowly collected over the years.
Sweet and romantic.
My daughter celebrates her anniversary with her boyfriend on St. Patrick's day.

She has mugs...

T-shirts....

Travel mugs....

Comforters..... and more.
She is always learning...designing...drawing...cutting wood...taking pictures....
on and on....she is a hard worker.
I try to teach her everything I know and she often shows me stuff now!
I'm so proud!

Happy Pumpkin Spice Season

Yep...It's that time of year...
Where everyone wants food or drink in pumpkin spice flavor!
I just had some pumpkin spice donuts!
Above is my Brand new sign!
It is an instant download PDF...so you get the file immediately and can print on your own printer in seconds.  It is only $5.99.
I always get frames at thrift stores and dollar stores when I am there...it is so inexpensive that way.
Plus other stores sell fancier frames for a bit more.
This sign would look great in the kitchen or a bakery or coffee shop.
Plus it is perfect all fall...not just Halloween.
Trix decided I needed to showcase her alittle.
She thinks the table is her playground.
By the way ...I found some baby pics of trix and lucky...trix is on the left...lucky is the face on the right.
Now that Trix is well from a recent sickness...now Lucky is under the weather....they are gonna be the death of me.
My daughter and her boyfriend went to a farm and got these tiny pumpkins...so I set them near this couple.  The hat he is wearing is a weekend treasure I got.
I also got this cool paper hat....it is so delicate.
Plus I got these small (about 5") diecuts...I didn't have them in my collection yet.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Well my daughter and I are getting ready for The big quilt show (WSQ) and filling out orders from Checker and online sales....so we have been working tons.
I haven't gotten all the things done that I wanted to....but that happens every year...so what else is new...lol.
This is a pic from my booth...many years ago... I have had sooo much fun at these.
Love it!
