Revamping Valentine boxes!!

I love my newly revamped old Valentine boxes...this one has the sweetest valentine of a pussy cat.
I want to show you how easy it is to do it yourself!
Here are my ugly boxes....a pink one from goodwill...$1.
There was dirt and marks on it....making it sort of sad looking.
And this one is alright...but just advertises Russel Stovers.
I gathered up supplies...like my party streamers.
I LOVE party streamers because they are usually dirt cheap at thrift stores and are easy to work with.
I just took my white party streamer and started gathering it up with my fingers and pressing it down to keep the gathered shape.
I then started hot gluing it to the edges...making it evenly hanging over the edge a bit.
I started at the top middle point of the heart.
Lucky was helping ...like a good tabby cat.
He put his paw on things I should try next...no kidding...he is amazing.
I kept going around in layers.
When going around curves...just tuck to go around.
I wanted another color to be added.
It was addicting to keep on going.
I love the sweetness of it...reminds me of Marie Antoinette.
While I was working on this....I took my old valentine ...glued it onto cardstock and then added glitter.  I let it dry.

This is the kitty valentine I used.
I covered it up alot.
All these pics were taking while watching tv...so I am sorry the pictures are a little crazy and dark.
I also covered up the little red box.
I added white too.
I glued the kitty valentine on the center....glued ribbons under it (with a heart button) and added a few stickers.
I put a dog valentine on this one.
They are sooo cute and corny at the same time!
Now my boxes are not sad...
I can proudly put them out and enjoy.
Here is my last tip:
Don't put party streamers in the sunshine...they will fade...
but maybe you want it to fade?  It would look vintage if it was faded....lol.

Have an amazing day!

Be Nice...freebie & more

Be nice...or leave.....love this.
Have you noticed that people are ruder than they used to be.
Also people thinking they are being "Honest"...but are just plain mean?
I really believe....if you don't have something nice to say...then don't say it at all.
This would be a fun little sign in your office space!
*Please note that all freebies are for you to use to make a couple finished goods (no mass producing) and a couple gifts...they are still legally my designs.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am so happy for the weekend...I really need some time where I can just chill.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a new banner set in my etsy shop: Sweet girls banner.

They come on this collage sheet....12 banner flags....just download and print...cut out and glue onto jute!
I painted the girls and flowers...converted them to the flag shapes and also made extra flowers and motifs as an illustration ...so that all the colors go together perfectly.
The banner can be any length. Each sheet has 12 flags....you could print as many as you need.
I have mine hanging in my office above my computer.

A very Vintage Christmas.....

Christmas is coming, I wish it were here....it is my very favorite time of year.....
This is a my BRAND NEW pattern: A vintage Christmas mini Quilts pattern- #366
This is in my etsy shop now!

The scene is set for a very vintage Christmas!
These 3 lil quilts are just perfect for your Winter Decor. There is a Tree mat, hanging banner Snowman head and a winter landscape on a larger mini quilt. All three feature wool and fun fabric.
They make terrific mats for your table, shelves and backdrop for decor!

I love playing with new fabrics and trims...
such a sweet face!
The pattern is also on my website!

I really can't get enough of fake measuring tapes and trims
This winter landscape is easy and fun to do...
I love doing a little machine quilting....which is also easy on these small projects.
Tree mat quilt design measures: 11" x 4"
Snowman head design measures: 11" x 4" not including bells
Winter landscape measure: 16" x 7 3/4" not including bells
Well I feel much more in the mood for Christmas now...
I need to get out my Andy Williams Christmas album and fully get in the spirit!

Valentine Kitty cat doll

I love working with felt and wool....it feels good.  So soft and cozy.
It is also very forgiving...easy to fix if you made a goof.
I particularly like to use up my scraps...I hoard them away like a squirrel.
I know its late for Valentine's...but I figure....better late than never (or next year!)

This is "Love U...Kitty cat pattern" #351
Isn't this the Cat's meow?  Celebrate Valentine's day with this sweet kitty cat doll... made from chenille stems, felt and wool. This project is easy, quick, and makes a great gift. It is also purrfect for your holiday decor!

I love to use chenille stems....especially the kind with the bumps.
This pattern is in my Etsy shop
and if you want a printed/mailed pattern..it is on my website.
I used my old chocolate box for background decor...I love those boxes!

The kitty Cat measures: 6" tall from head to bottom
7 1/2" tall if including dangling legs
She doesn't have to be for Valentine's day....she could be made up in any color...holding something else.
I think her holding a banner between both hands would be super cute!
*******
My husband wanted to know if I wanted to go out on Valentine's day for dinner or he would cook at home....I chose his wonderful Lasagna...he is a great cook...corn and red lobster cheese biscuits.
I will be in heaven and so will our daughter.
I just can't stand the crowds on these holidays....not my idea of fun.
Do you go out or stay in?
I am glad it is on Saturday this year!

Celebrating BFF's!

Have you ever had a friend....that no matter how long you haven't seen her....the minute you get together...it is like you saw each other yesterday?
How about a friend that listens to all your griping and then makes you feel great!
Or what about that friend that never tells your secrets?
Let's celebrate BFF's!
I had a blast decorating this clear frame...from Deflecto.
First I dolled up this old fashioned photo...on a free photo editing app.
I added text "Best Friends Forever", a Polaroid looking border and a title "Betty & Lizzy 1945".
This frame is clear and it unscrews so you can add a photo...then it screws back securely. Very chic!
I then wrapped one side and the bottom area with bakers twine...in 2 different shade of pink.

I tied up a bow....and inserted this little chenille stem heart.
You just take half of a chenille bump stem...these are at hobby lobby.
and fold both ends inward to make a heart shape.
You can insert the hearts into the bakers twine.
(If you want to...you can twist the ends of the chenille stem or glue with a drop of glue from a hot glue gun.)
It is an easy way to dress up this frame for Valentine's day.
This would make a great gift for your BFF.
Take a photo of you and your BFF and make it black and white with the photo editor.
You can even add overlays to make the photo look old.

My Valentine floral surface pattern design

I have been working hard on learning adobe illustrator...getting all the techniques down.
It is very fun and exciting when a pattern design is put together....feels like a miracle.

One of the funnest parts is changing up the colors.....I really love that part.

Can you believe that this is the same pattern design....the color changes make everyone unique.

It is amazing to me how different they can be.
The backgrounds can be changed as well as the elements.
Basically I drew some hearts, flowers, and a stem with hearts.  I added some dots and leaves too.
I would never have thought to put some of these colors in these spots...but the program allows random changes and then you can save them.
This one reminds me of St. Patricks day.
I love this black one...it reminds me of what a little Swiss girls dress might have on it.
Beautiful pinks....love this one....so soft.
Hot pink!
Lavender and yellow....amazing.
I saved a lot more color combos....just showing these ones.
I will keep working on design...there is much more to learn.....but I have the basics down for sure.
