Valentine Kitty cat doll

I love working with felt and wool....it feels good.  So soft and cozy.
It is also very forgiving...easy to fix if you made a goof.
I particularly like to use up my scraps...I hoard them away like a squirrel.
I know its late for Valentine's...but I figure....better late than never (or next year!)

This is "Love U...Kitty cat pattern" #351
Isn't this the Cat's meow?  Celebrate Valentine's day with this sweet kitty cat doll... made from chenille stems, felt and wool. This project is easy, quick, and makes a great gift. It is also purrfect for your holiday decor!

I love to use chenille stems....especially the kind with the bumps.
This pattern is in my Etsy shop
and if you want a printed/mailed pattern..it is on my website.
I used my old chocolate box for background decor...I love those boxes!

The kitty Cat measures: 6" tall from head to bottom
7 1/2" tall if including dangling legs
She doesn't have to be for Valentine's day....she could be made up in any color...holding something else.
I think her holding a banner between both hands would be super cute!
*******
My husband wanted to know if I wanted to go out on Valentine's day for dinner or he would cook at home....I chose his wonderful Lasagna...he is a great cook...corn and red lobster cheese biscuits.
I will be in heaven and so will our daughter.
I just can't stand the crowds on these holidays....not my idea of fun.
Do you go out or stay in?
I am glad it is on Saturday this year!

I had a terrific time this weekend thrifting with some fun friends!
We hit many thrift stores and an antique store....ate at the milk bottle restaurant and then went to one of our homes to craft...chit chat and eat brownies!  It was very fun!
I wanted to show you my goodies I got.  Above is a cute fake bird feeder...over a foot tall...$1.99.
This is a large pink mirror with handy knobs...love this...4.99

Really heavy bird feeder...2.99
We went to many shops over the course of the day.

This is the two women antique stores display...so lovely.

So darned valentiney...loved it

They have a great knack for displaying
I got a queenly old valentine
My favorite thing is this kid's magazine from 1934.
These are some of the fun pages inside.
The drawings are so sweet and tender
I just love these guys....terrific!
You can't go wrong with paper dolls!
Goody goody tales...lol.
This was a whole quarter....a vintage book on solitaire...
perfect for mixed media art.
Tulle in pinks and green...I always can use tulle.
yay...Halloween fabric!
An old America book...1915
I love this statue of liberty print inside.
I am very patriotic.
Pretty music...I could take pic after picture to show you....
I better just stop and finish by saying....we set up another date to all get together for more thrifting!

A quote from Gatsby

This is from a song in the new "The Great Gatsby" movie.
The song is sung by Fergie and it is played during the party scenes at Gatsby's.
My daughter plays it so much that has become an "earworm"....you know when a song can't get out of your mind.  I like it alot though..hehehe.
This one looks like it is old.
I love changing things up a bit.
This would make a fun embroidery/stitchery.
Copy and save.
Have a great rest of you weekend!!!

A couple freebies, a sneak peak & a bunnies....

It's is Friday!!  Yay!  I am so glad the weekend is upon us...I need some fun!
Here is today's freebie!

It is "Y is for Yacht"
Remember ...these would be sweet to stitch up in a kids quilt or on lil pillows.  For earlier letters in this series...go back to my past Friday posts. Fun to color as well. Copy and save.

Next week will be: "Z is for ____"
It's the last one in this series.
Be the first to guess the correct answer to what "Z" could stand for ....and you will get a sweet prize.
Just make your guess in the comment section of this blog post. Be the first one to guess to get the prize.
One guess per person to make it fair!

This is a past freebie design of mine...worth repeating!
This would stitch up super quick...frame it in a tiny hoop!

This is a sneaky peak at my next pattern design... so sweet!
Coming very soon!

I have been painting and taking an online class....so much fun.
This bunny is almost done...I am painting several at a time.
There is something about painting and not caring whether it is going to be fabulous or not....that makes you feel calm.
Have you been painting lately?
I love the bright Amy Butler fabric used in my bunnies.....it is a pattern of mine called...
They are super fast, fun to make and make a great gift in the Easter basket.
Talk about BIG EYES!
Any bright fun fabric would look great.
It would also be sweet in baby pastels.
The pattern also comes with the egg pins....and sayings to go on the pins.

I have already had a Cadbury egg...I couldn't help it....they are soooo good!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Vintage Valentine in black and white

I love vintage valentines....here are some from a very old magazine I have...I wanted to share with you the wonderful drawings.  It is a style that is so much fun and so different than todays.

Love the part stick figures of these.  They seem to be going to school with their Valentines.

and its slippery too! These would be fun to practice drawing ... using this as inspiration.

Hokey craft alert!!
Remember making some funny things in grade school with construction paper, tissue paper scrunches with a pencil and glue, and of course cutting and gluing!

Sweet music....I can't play but I wonder how this sounds.
My mom could play anything....but she didn't give the gift to anyone.  Maybe a future generation will be as talented as she was.

This is soooo sweet!  I love it!
It brings back the tender feeling of young love.

Hope you liked these
Have a wonderful day!

All things Irish...

It's that time of the year....that I start thinking ... All things Irish.
I really love the color green.
I painted some of the walls in my house a sage green....light.
It seems to look good with any decor or holiday that comes up.
I have lots of patterns, collage sheets, flash cards, signs and projects to celebrate
St. Patrick's day....I really love the holiday.
I am Irish...but I know a lot of people who are Irish for the day.
I have quite the collection of Irish decor....things I have picked up through the years and then all my stuff I created. The mouse embroidery above is one of my most popular designs.
Easter is April 5th this year!
Seems early!
The badges above are fun for a party or going out on St Patricks day.
I love to keep busy at night when watching TV....embroidery is always my choice, since
it is easy to get out and work on it.
*********
Right now I am stitching a fairy....she is quite the cutie!
She will be a pattern soon.
--------
I am also taking an online painting class....from Tim Sally called "Permission to play".
I think it is important to learn and grow....online classes are so fun and convenient.
If you have never tried one...I encourage you to find one (an artist you love or designer) and plunge into it!
These classes are usually inexpensive and affordable.
Lots of artists have created these classes and they share their knowledge and techniques.

Superbowl Sunday!

It's Superbowl Sunday once more
Gotta say....GO SEAHAWKS!
Above and below are some new pictures from my daughter Selina.
We live in Spokane Washington....home of Expo 74.
The smallest city to have ever hosted a world's fair!
This is the clock tower...a wonderful part of the riverfront park we have...a huge park right in our downtown...with roaring falls all over!
They lit up the clock tower with the Seahawks emblem.
We had to go at night and see it!
She added special effects....all of these are in her Etsy shop...Peacock Gumdrop!
My daughter is a junior in high school, 17 years old.
We are always shocked however when we go out...they are always trying to put us in the bar section....I keep saying she is not old enough.
This is perfect for the Seahawk fans out there.
Also ...another huge site in the city is this extremely tall set of towers....which were colored with lights...for the seahawks.
There are 12th man flags everywhere...people dressed form head to toe in Seahawks merchandise.

Like my hubby...lol
He has his shirt, hat and candy.

He loves his new shirt....and plans to buy more Superbowl gear after we win.

He was cracking jokes while I took this pic....I will not tell you what he said...bad boy!
Have a good Sunday and I hope you have fun...no matter what you do.
