Japanese dollar store goodies

I recently went to Seattle for a vacation and knew I was going to find the Japanese dollar store there.

The Daiso japan store is located at the Westlake mall where the monorail is.

It was so much fun...full of unusual items....but I loved all the crafty goodness! 

Variegated embroidery floss...1.50 for the pack. I love how it is so cutely packaged. 

Almost everything in the store is $1.50

Threads....of all colors! 

Page markers...I got some cute ones...my daughter chose teddy bears. 

Fun wrapping paper. 

A thick drawing tablet...perfect to sketch ideas! 

Washi tape! 

Lots of fun papers....and I could have spent alot longer there....but my families patience was wearing thin....lol.

I may put some art supplies in it...for when I go to my sister's house to draw and watercolor.

The two circles near the top seem to be 2 pictures they added later...maybe family members who passed away or came later. One circle must have popped off.

She lingers where the flowers sway

Hey everyone!  I hope you are having a terrific Tuesday!

I have been painting the last couple days....having fun like a little kid. 

The above painting collage is: She lingers where the flowers sway.

This is a combination of acrylic paints, inks, and papers.

I actually added more to the painting after taking this picture...I was on a roll. 

I love the blues and maroon reds.  Usually I am a pink person....just drawn to pink I guess.

My mom loved red....that was her color.

I have a sweet painting....not quite done...which has the Eiffel Tower in it.

Old Valentines- corny sayings

Oh My!!!  I love old Valentines...but I especially love the CORNY sayings on them!

They always have a way of using a word...like Scent and changing it up for cent....with perfume....like the valentine above.

Valentines are not like this anymore...too bad!

The drawings are so cute too.  Look at the cute pudgy arms and legs.  

This one from Germany has a different feel.  He looks goofy!  

Now that is a fan!  These are proof that the world isn't always getting better....somethings were better back in the day!

Wondering what to wear to the big New Year's Eve party tonight?  What about this fashion idea above.

If you have read "Anne of Green Gables"...you know Anne wanted a pretty dress made with puffed sleeves.  Well she would have been soooo jealous of these puffed sleeves!

It looks a little crazy....I wonder what men thought of all this puffiness?

She would probably have to squeeze though doors!

 

I prefer being at home away from all the craziness with my family and some champagne.  I am sure we will play games....and make fun of Ryan Seacrest...he he he.

Partying too early?

Cute huh!

I bought a cool photo album in an antique store last week and most of the pics are super old...towards the back were these party pics.  I think they are from the 40's or 50's.  All of the pics were men in drag....I laughed so hard....these guys are ugly.

These guys are partying way too early for New Years!

They probably all laughed all night long! Dig the lady in the satin dress.

I saved my favorite for last!!!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

This is my freebie for this Friday!  This picture is a real treasurer.  Imagine the rough road she had in her life!  Not only was she a woman....she was an odd looking gal.  It almost looks like she has a leather jacket on.  Maybe she was a wild woman from the old west!

This would be great on an altered art project.  You could make her into a card with a caption:

 "It's all fun and games until the whiskey runs out!".... or

"Housework makes me ugly".

"She was one frozen entree from a nervous breakdown".

"She would show him naughty!".

I could go on forever!! I love funny quotes.  Anyway...I hope she had a good life and changed the world in some small way.

Drawing fun!

Hey everybody!!!  I am taking a fun online drawing class....by TASCHA.  I like to learn new skills and just play sometimes.  I always seem to be doing everything for my business....now its time for some me time....lol.  I draw all the time to make my designs...but this is plain fun!  The above pic is one of my drawings from the class....techniques learned with a few of my own ideas.

This is a practice on different faces.   I highly recommend this class.

She is bashful....I love making these gals!

MEOW!  Selina loves mixing it up!  This is like Puss & boots when he is little.  This class....has videos and pdf drawings to print out for extra help drawing.....there is still time to join too!  Each week a new video is out.....we joined yesterday and went crazy!

It's me!

Yep...It's me!  I am not the kind of girl that seeks out a camera... in fact I like to avoid it like the plague.  My daughter convinced me that I need to show myself on my blog....so she is right...as usual.  Here I am being silly....I like to be silly!

I love my hoop art...I am making some for Halloween!

I like a good party hat, don't you.....this one says....Happy girls are the prettiest!

My mouse pin cushions....one of my best selling patterns!  It was only 97 degrees out when taking our pics...yikes!  My daughter said...yep...I'm hot now..I think we have enough pics.

As I get older..I am starting to finally look like my mom....which is strange since I look totally like my dad's side.....Scottish!  Mom was Scottish too though.  I am rambling!

3 Witch Mannequins- SPoOky!

I whipped up some Witch Mannequins to sell....I decided to do this because so many people have asked if I might make some up....so this is a rare thing since I am so busy.  It was alot of fun!

The WITCH above is a pin keep is primitive and spooky, made to look like a vintage Witch mannequin dress form and it keeps all your pins. Her body is cream with black halloween symbols. This witch is grungy with a grubby hat and stand. The hat has sweet annie and cheesecloth hat band. On the mannequin is a witchy image in a rusty bottlecap. She also has a black cat pin and an "Halloween hag! " banner pin. On her shoulders is a cheeselcoth shawl. She has a ribbon and paper skirt with glitter stars. On her waist is an old rusty bell and safety pin. She comes with an awesome broom too. So cool!!!! It measures: 21 3/4" tall x 5" wide.

New design- Everyday is a gift

Yay!!!.... my new pattern is done....sometimes things just get in the way and you can't finish something for awhile.....but I did it!

As the years go by....I realize how true this statement is.  My mom died 14 1/2 years ago....she had a terminal disease and she literally willed herself to live to see my one and only baby.  20 days after my daughter was born...she passed away.  She didn't get to see my daughter grow. They could have had so many special moments.  She missed my business grow from a few craft shows I did ... and now designing patterns.  She never got to see the internet, cell phones, and other little things we take for granted.  We missed out on having her for all the holidays, advice, good times, and such.  I could go on and on! 

Everyday is a gift!
