Dark Shadows..so much fun

We saw Dark Shadows yesterday.....it is so much fun.
Don't count on it being like the original show...which I loved.....Just go with it and enjoy.
We all thought it was good and well worth going to....the end is awesome.

All summer Freebie friday event

Good Morning!!! 

This is the beginning of an 8 week all Summer long freebie friday event!!!!  The theme is Inspiration!!!

Each Friday I will give you a design...like the "Choose Joy" design and by the end of 8 weeks you will have some beautiful Embroidery bowl fillers...like my Valentine bowl fillers below(this is a pattern on my etsy). You could also use the designs to make other items like wearable pins or small pin cushions.   

Take a scrap piece of muslin and trace the choose joy design onto it.  I like using a disappearing marker....that disappears when water is applied to it.  On my left sidebar is a tip on how to make a lightbox to trace embroidery designs.

Also trace the square around design.  Back-stitch your word on muslin in any color you choose.  Trim muslin design down....1/4" away from outside square.  Remove disappearing marker and let dry.  Make into a mini pillow...with a backing and stuff it.  One bowl filler is done.  These also make great pillow tucks on a shelf.  Tell your friends about the all summer long freebie friday!!!

Here is a sneaky peak of my next pattern....this one is sooooo pretty!

I am a very patriotic person and I just had to make a big eyed lil lady with our flag and fireworks!

I can't wait for our Lilac parade here in Spokane...such a good parade and it celebrates the armed forces...so being a vet it always gets your heart beating.  My husband is a vet too and he loves seeing the military and especially the Vets that are from WW2.  Brings tears of pride to your eyes!

Gotta take a walk now!

Fun Mom tag

Here is a tag I made ....I always put it out during mother's day.  She has passed many years ago now.....but the love I still feel for her is sooooo strong!  She was a beautiful woman and I really don't know how she did it all.

To make a tag for your mom or to remember your mom....get you pics out and find a good one.  You can age a tag by rubbing brown ink on a toothbrush and rubbing the toothbrush over the tag....on edges.

This pic was a black and white...which I added a lil pink blush to the cheeks to make her light up.  I cut out around her and cut off the skirt area...so I can add a fabric skirt.

I glued the photo onto the tag and hot glued a little scrap of fabric for a skirt.  I added the ribbon belt to finish it better.  I added floral clipart and then stamped the word "Mom" on it.  Now....whenever I see my lil tag....I think of her at her prime....a woman who was going to conquer the world...and she could have!

Just had to show ya.....here she is on a pendant I made....wearing a party hat!  She was the life of the party....she didn't drink...but she was fun and people wanted to listen to her and be with her.

Her name was Betty Lou!

I was her baby and we were super close.  Now I have a daughter and she is my baby (one and only) and we are super close.

If you still have your mom.....give her a big old hug and say thanks....you won't regret it!

New design- Everyday is a gift

Yay!!!.... my new pattern is done....sometimes things just get in the way and you can't finish something for awhile.....but I did it!

As the years go by....I realize how true this statement is.  My mom died 14 1/2 years ago....she had a terminal disease and she literally willed herself to live to see my one and only baby.  20 days after my daughter was born...she passed away.  She didn't get to see my daughter grow. They could have had so many special moments.  She missed my business grow from a few craft shows I did ... and now designing patterns.  She never got to see the internet, cell phones, and other little things we take for granted.  We missed out on having her for all the holidays, advice, good times, and such.  I could go on and on! 

Everyday is a gift!

It's time to get ready and GO FOR IT! 

I love to be inspired by sayings....I really need the boost sometimes!

I made some digital cards.....to inspire......made from old wallpapers, old ledger books and speciality papers.  I got out my old typewriter out and had fun typing away....I made these to inspire and let you know you should never give up on your dreams!

The sayings you get are on the cards are: There is no chance unless you take one, Take a risk, If you slip up, get up!, Stand up for what you believe, Nothing great comes easy, and Never settle for less, forget the rest, you deserve the best. They measure 2 1/2" x 3 1/2".

I framed this card up....dollar store frame and old music paper for a background.  I also added glitter.

Here I made a simple tag out of the card.   This would be a great gift tag....with a personal message on the back.

Take a compostion book ...add papers to the unpretty parts of the book and add a card....I also added glittery yarn from martha stewert and a rose button with seam binding ribbon.

I love to take a can .....cover it with old book pages and mod podge and then add a card.  Much prettier and inspiring than regular pencil holders.

Times have changed!!

I got a couple old magazines from the early 60's for a buck each at an antique show ....SCORE!

They are soooo much fun to look at......boy have things changed!  I am from the late 60's....born after these magazines...so it is amazing to me.

This is a Breck girl....wouldn't it be funny to make up your hair like this?   lol

This is super hold hair spray...remember when it was a stinky aerosol can that practically made you high?

I just bought some life cereal....which is still really good.  This is a fun ad.

Ok...the food ads are usually pretty sick!  I love canned cranberry sauce....but this is funny because of the presentation.

Here we have an ad for pots....because we women are really interested in pots.

The other page is American Touristor luggage...so snazzy.

Kraft Mac and Cheese...looks good...except the background looks gloomy...I am always happy when having mac and cheese....and I never light a blue candle.

Coke always has great Ads.....makes ya want one doesn't it!

Yikes!!!!  Just make a vat of Spanish type rice and throw some hotdogs on top....presto...your dinner is done!  Don't forget that garnish on top!

This is a fashion spread.....the hair cracks me up....I told my daughter I was going to do that to her hair and she started running.

This dress is kind of cool....reminds me of what a gal would wear....waiting for Barnabas Collins to appear.

I don't even know how they got their hair like that.....

I have never seen Campbell soups look so strange....these are Men's favorites apparently.  These food ads don't tempt me.

Cook up a roast with assorted veggies....and then when no one is looking.....throw in the hunts tomato sauce........and it is ruined!!!   lol.

Freebie friday- kitty & women

Isn't this kitty the cutest?  I love to see a farm cat pic....reminds me of all the pics my mom had taken when she was a teen in Oregon....always with a cat in her arms.

These are my freebie Friday pictures.  This cat could say "Iz a great mouser!"

These ladies are sewing a flag....so patriotic!  They look like they could use a night of fun....like a margarita and a whiskey river burger at Red Robin...he he he.

Love these fashionable ladies....mother and daughter.  I should have had a picture of me and my mom done like this....oh well.  My mom and I had matching dresses once..I was 2 at the time....green floral dresses she had sewn up.

I have used this pic many times in my artwork....I like how she is looking at you....she can see you! 

Don't get spooked out....she is friendly. 

Today my daughter is planting trees in ecology class....she is in middle school.....I don't remember having the option to take Ecology?  What ever happened to cooking or sewing?
