Vintage Valentines

I got some new vintage Valentines this year...well I collect more every year....I add to it.
I thought I would share a few that caught my eye.
Above is the sweetest elephant...with the weirdest clown ever.  The nose cracks me up!

This Giraffe is cute and his neck moves.
I just love all the corny sayings and puns....they just don't make them like this anymore.
The valentines kids give to each other now are cheap pieces of paper....with funny edges and they have zero cute factor.
I love valentines with Kitties!
This one is cool because it was for teacher.
Plus the kitty is an artist...with beret and all...lol.

This couple really caught my eye...so tender....plus his hat is huge and reminds me of the mad hatter.
It has gold...I remember as a kid loving that gold on paper.
This one is from 1911.
I love the ornateness of this one.
On the back it says:
Dear Glen,
I wish you was out here.
I like school fine.
It has 23 scholors in role.
Goodbye answer soon
Charlie
They were both in Kansas.
What really gets me is how romantic the card looks....but maybe that didn't mean anything or maybe it did.
The postcard is 105 years old now.
I always wonder how things went for the two writing each other in these old letters and postcards....did they have a good life?
We will never know.

Tomato pincushion freebie

Thank God it's Friday!!
and the Memorial day weekend is here.
Yay!
To me...this is the beginning of Summertime!
Above is a fun freebie...a sweet pincushion.
Stitch it up into a pincushion...lol.
-------------------------
I love how profound this statement is!
I also love the simplicity of this design.
I made the repeating star pattern...as practice...and It turned out well.
Another great saying!
Being a veteran myself....it makes me feel proud.
I love to display these all summer long.
My wool pins and necklaces pattern is fun to remember your loved one....I give old photos in the pattern though in case you want to use them.
These are fun and easy to do.
I love how they look vintage.
Wool and wool felt are perfect for these...especially since they take scraps....and we all have a bunch of scraps.  (I hoard them unfortunately...lol)

Let's all take a moment this weekend to think and remember our military!

Funny little treasures

Hey everyone...My Spring break is over.
I just wanted to show you some funny little things I bought while on shopping excursions.
Above are some fun cards...they just make me laugh ...
I love cats talking sort of baby talk....and being their snooty selves.

This is John Cleese from Monty Python....doing a silly walk.
I have loved Monty Python for many many years!
They are british and they always push the limit on everything!

I love collecting buttons.....do I need any more?  NO!
But I still want them.

Pearl ones with shanks!

I especially love buttons with diamond gems in them

Fancy pants!

These are so sweet....and cost 50 cents!

Who would charge only 50 cents for these?
he he he....  I'll take them!!!!

Here are vintage price tags!

What could be 3 for 5 cents?  WOW
I'll take whatever it is at that deal.

This label is for 17 cents....that cracks me up....not 15 cents...not 20 cents....but exactly 17 cents!

I love old notebooks with scribblings inside

Some farmer kept a neat log in 1959.

I always pick up fun fabric scraps

Love Halloween!
Especially when a whole bundle is 2 dollars.

Black vintage seam binding....almost full roll!

This is some fabric I just loved years ago...found some more.

Vintage fabric...so different than what you can buy now.

This is super silky and and the colors are gorgeous!
There is something about getting treasures....and when they are great deals it makes it even sweeter.

Old Washington map

Washington state....my home!

I love old dictionaries, atlases, papers, etc...
This is Washington state from an old book from 1954.
I think if you click on the pics above they will show up larger.

***If you would like to see your state on my blog....just comment and tell me which glorious state you come from.

I love my map...it shows how thinks were different over 50 years ago.  My neighborhood I grew up in was originally a town....now it is part of Spokane....because Spokane grew so much. It is fun to see change.

Live more fully NOW,
to develop golden memories

Miss Betty Darling

This is the sweetest letter....from Dottie Deery...Nicetown Ohio.
To Miss Betty Darling.....from Shady street.....oh no...she might not be as nice as she sounds....he he he
My mom was a Betty....and she was Amazing!

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.

Have a wonderful Sunny Sunday!!

Thrifting .... for gold!

Last week during spring break ...my daughter and I went to visit my sis ...and we had a blast thrifting and antiquing.
The thrill of the hunt....so intoxicating!
Above are some awesome vintage ribbon roses.

One booth had nothing but sewing items...I was in HEAVEN.
There were cool buttons, laces, velvet leaves...so many goodies.

A thrift store had this bag of felt...it is huge with every color I will ever need.

This just cracked me up...someone saved old butter containers....I remember these as a kid...it brought back the memories....had to have it.

Imperial butter.....and so cute too!

This is a vintage box of shoe buttons...they will make great eyes on softies.
This box is chuck full...yay.

I love old ledger booklets

I especially love the writing in it

Yes...I can never pass up pom poms with strings

Red bags of buttons and red velvet hearts....oh my!

Someone cut out phrases for old cards...love that!

More buttons for 98 cents....can't beat that.

This bright yellow bucket tote came from the dollar tree....comes indifferent shapes and colors...I think they will go fast.   I put some of my finds in it for now.

I got french thread....dirt cheap....20cents

I always collect salt and pepper shakers for my mini mannequin pattern....they make a perfect base.
Plus I got some lovely pink fabric too.
I am going to share the rest of my finds with the Create it club members...since some of the items will be featured in the newsletter.
