Yarn kitty doll and party hats!

Say hello to my wild cat...yarn doll!
I recently got an elf ornament at an antique store....
and wanted to make my own.
But I didn't know how.
So I looked on Pinterest and found a great website...Krokotak.com
It is specifically here!
This diagram was handy.
I added a felt kitty face with a little embroidery....paws (pink paint for pads), tail and center heart.
I choose some yarn I had ...a multi color soft yarn.
I think you could add any face...clothes...shoes...to make it different.
I may need to make it in Valentine colors...I will show you if I get it done soon.
--------------------------------
I recently went to a party after Christmas but before New Years...my daughter and I needed something fun to wear...so I whipped these up...using my festive party hat pattern.
This was Selina's....she loves bright girly colors.
For the trims I used: yarn, scrunched seam binding, tulle, fabric scraps, and strings!
For the banner I just stamped out a saying on white muslin...Party girl.  Then I cut it into banner shapes...added glue around the edges and dipped it in glitter. I then hot glued them on the front of the hat.
Here is my hat....I chose a vintage scrap of fabric for the main part....then picked all these crazy matching trims.
We can use these hats for any party occasion now!
They are light, extremely comfortable, & clip on snugly. No longer do you have to have a strap or headband to have your lil party hat stay on.
My pattern comes with printable banners :
Happy New Year's, Happy Valentine's day, Happy St. Patrick's Day, Happy Easter, Happy Mother's Day, Happy Father's Day, Congrats Grad!, Happy 4th of July, Happy Halloween, Merry Christmas, Bride, Groom, Happy Birthday, Over the Hill, Happy anniversary, Give Thanks, Party Girl, Happy Holidays, Life is good!, and Let them eat Cake.
Here is one I made in the past...
Smarty pants!
This one cracked me up!

Try and stay cozy...
our weather is extremely cold...we are embroidering, sewing, and doing computer illustration.
We are avoiding going out and about!

Here she is wearing one.
These are some of her amazing photo's....they are in her Peacock Gumdrop Etsy shop.
I love our Bleeding heart...I planted it near my favorite kitty who passed away a few years back.  Her name was Sally.
This barn she took while driving to Leavenworth....a German style city.
This photo was printed in a magazine......she was very thrilled about that!
Alot of these have won blue ribbons at our state fair.
This is Selina last year.....she is also very good at sports.
She loves duck tape....these are rings....she has made backpacks, pens, wallets...and more.
She made collages from her photography too.
It gives a nice idea of what she likes to take.
She has made many duck tape dresses
She paints alot....this is Katy Perry on brown paper.
Her paper dress won lots of awards at the state fair.

Embellishments....everywhere!

Hi everyone!  This is my organized mess...near my glue gun.....it is lots of embellishments to add to any project.  I got one of those old printer/stamp trays at goodwill but i thought it was a shadow box for collectibles.  I first painted it pink...but pink was not always good for my shows (cause I like to sell small goodies from this tray). I then painted it cream so it would be more versatile.

Old jewelry...ya know sometimes ya break a piece or lose one earring.....plus sometimes at thrift stores
you can get a whole bag for a few dollars.  Old jewelry makes great embellishments.

I love buttons....here it is only some brass ones.  Brass or gold buttons add a regal quality to a project.

Here are bits and snippits....of things.

I like old domino's, old glasses (glue/decoupage a pic on the back), barrettes, scissors, and dice.

I have glitter Eiffel towers...old measuring tapes to cut up, corsage pins, felt flowers and lil banners.
I love making these....I have created lots of patterns with these in mind....fun fun fun!
This is a lil flower hair pin I made...go to make it and love it for a great tutorial ....love her site!

I like to glam up my business cards with seam binding or fancy yarn.   I tell ya...Vista print does great business cards and other printing....very cheaply.
Here is something I made up myself....my info on long strips of brown cardstock.....with fancy pink yarn. These are 7" long...fairly large.
It is fun to tuck these in the mail with an order.  It would also be great at a show.
See you tomorrow for freebie friday!

Monday show and tell

I had a nice weekend shopping with my 2 sisters and daughter.  We mainly went to antique stores....so many here us Spokane Wa...so fun too!   I got this lovely old pre-plastic pink bowl....I can use it for holding all kinds of goodies...but right now I want to put Easter candy in it.

I wanted to have some kind of filler in the bowl,  I tried shredded book pages .....yuck.

I then tried shredded pink crinkly paper.  It is ok...cause cadbury eggs make everything better!

I tried green crinkly paper....not my fav.

Then in all my junk I found pink easter grass.....it is good! I just love pink!
Later this week I will have more to show you with antiques.

I made some butterfly hairpins and rolled flower pins.  A rolled flower tutorial can be found HERE.  There are many on the internet....free!  Just do a google search.  It is easy and uses up your scraps of wool or felt.  I started making all kinds of them...sort of addicting.  Check out this http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2011/03/baby-hair-accessories-wool-felt.html  as well.
Let's face it...you could easy make up hair pins for every outfit.

This is what they look like on the back.

Here is what my butterfly hairpins look like on the back.

The butterfly pattern is in this new terrific book by Tone Finnanger...called Tilda's studio.  Her website is Tilda's world.  I got my copy at Jo Ann fabrics.  This book is just filled with fun goodies...I really love this book!

Here is a peek in her book.....with flowers and butterflys.  She has other fabulous books too... she has a fresh feminine look.  Well I better get back to work....so much to do!
