What's happening....in 1913

I got a cool magazine....it's only 102 years old.
I love the fashions that were in it!
Just gorgeous!

This was right after the Titanic sunk....and there is an article in it about what happened to the
Astor baby.  John Jacob Astor died on the Titanic, but his pregnant wife made it.
I love Titanic....so I was in heaven to see this magazine for only 3 bucks.

Can you imagine stuffing yourself in a corset everyday?
No thanks!

These ladies definitely came from high class...they probably didn't do anything but charity dinners.

The outfits are cool...but soooo glad things have changed.

It just show you how different the world was 100 years ago.
Women were just ornaments.

This is some weird paper project...creepy clown alert!!!

I know it is hard to see...but this is the advice section.....

Here they tell you how to get rid of cockroaches....
I have never seen one in Washington state....I did in Texas.....but I think cockroaches would laugh themselves to death with this tip!!
Crisco....my mom's favorite!
She made great chicken with it.
I love how this ad shows doughnuts....yum!

All that I am....Mom

Here is my newest sign...perfect for Mother's day!
All that I am or hope to be, I owe to my Mother......
The saying comes from the great President Abe Lincoln
My mother was a fantastic mom....she had flaws...but she was just awesome and I wish she were still here and could see all the things I am doing and I wish she could be with my daughter!
If you still have your mom....cherish her.

I have to show you some treasure I got during spring break.
Above are things to complete needle punch projects.
These small baskets are perfect for lil needlepunch.
I love hoops and old jello molds (perfect for bases for crafts and pincushions)
I got lots of embroidery transfers
These country folks are cute
Sew day...that guy better watch out ...she may get his booty with a needle.
Old books are always a favorite of mine
They just don't make stuff like this anymore.
It is nice artwork and sparks all kinds of ideas.
Trims!
Magazine racks....cause I do have a bit of a magazine collecting problem.
vintage fabric
I needed black trim badly
ok...this was fun...a whole box of pink goodies!
I was in heaven
vintage buttons, tulle springs, ribbons....
rose buds, beads, sequins.....
pink papers too
pink leaves..lol... and much more!
This was a strange find...but fun...a game
But I am just gonna use the cool words inside.
Tons of words and in different colors...yay
I also got fake flowers, a pink shelf, chocolates, and a sweet pink mini vw van...lol.
I just had a blast.
I have some really comfy skechers shoes too...gray and pink!
I am glad to get back to normal however.

By the way...if you would like you artwork in a cool magazine like Somerset holidays or any Stampington publication....here is lots of great advice.
I was lucky enough to have my design on the cover of this issue!!!
Could be you next!!

Business advice asked

Hi!  I was asked for some business advice about my patterns and I thought you might be interested too!
A sweet lady was getting into selling patterns on etsy and wondered about how I came up with prices and asked for any advice about selling on etsy.

I encourage you you all to start an etsy shop....I love etsy! It is great for people who sell their finished work too!
I love creating a pattern design once and then have the capabilities to sell it forever. I never liked making a whole bunch of one item anyway.
I like to keep my price in a medium range....not too low or people will think it is not good or a low quality item.

Also, not too high because people have a lot of expenses and they will simply say no to a high priced pattern. I would rather have have a lot of medium sales than a few high priced ones.

Instant download is the greatest....no sending the file because etsy does this for you....and no shipping or printing! Although this is just on etsy and sites like this.
I print and ship lots of patterns too depending on the business.
Getting a following is important....people need to know about you...blog, facebook, tweet...or whatever.  If they don't know about you or your items.... they won't come...it is as simple as that.
Enter submissions into magazines....they pay and are great to spread the word about you and your designs. Join link parties if you blog...they get other people to see your stuff.
One more thing that is super important....or you won't make many sales. Pictures are extremely important! Take good pics with no flash and not in direct sunlight. I made a light box from an old box to take pictures in. There are all kinds of tutorials on this on the internet. If the picture is gorgeous...it will sell your pattern.
Take a pattern or several that you have at home and really look at it.  See how they style a picture, cover, supplies, info, instructions, and patterns.  This gives you lots of ideas for how you would like yours to be.

These are just my thoughts and opinions...made from my point of view.

I hope you follow your dreams....it is getting easier and easier for home based businesses now!
