Patriotic Tea Party!

I have created a Patriotic Tea Party!
This painting was a lot of fun and actually helped me get through some stressful times.
Art is very healing.
Sometimes just getting out the supplies on a big table gets you going!
I always start with a large canvas (hobby lobby was packs of them at great prices)
I take old papers and with a matte medium, apply them to the canvas.
Some of my old papers crack me up....I guess they lied about dieting stuff way back!
Terrible how this kind of fraud was allowed, but it still is really.
I like adding recipes and cartoons too.
Sometimes I glue some tissue paper too. You just have to apply these carefully so they don't wrinkle.
I drew a few ideas down....
from my sketch....I think it is a good idea to do this before hand.
I started adding paint...letting some of the old papers show through.
I really wanted the teapot to have a flag...because usually teapots have flowers or sweet designs...
I wanted it to be different.
Roses!
I work on one area, and then go to the next while it dries.
I sketched a spoon at the bottom.
Adding greenery.
Folk art is very forgiving....lol.
It's ok to make mistakes or be a little sloppy.
Things are coming together, but I didn't like all that space around the teapot.
Lots of shading....
coffee or tea?
I added a patriotic banner!
I slipped it in and I love it!
This is my process and I had so much fun.
This is a perfect project for a rainy day!
 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My daughter Selina ( with a fox camera app)....
She is a happy girl because she has a new laser machine and it works like a dream.
Her other machine broke down and caused all kinds of trouble... right after
quilt market!  Now she is almost completely caught up on all the orders and feeling much better!

When it rains ...it pours!
It's almost Father's Day!

Makes the perfect gift for Father's day
or when baby is born and there is a new daddy in the family.
Looks great hung up in the man cave.
This is a dollar store frame...painted white....so easy!

Hope you have an amazing weekend with your dad....your step-dad, your father in law, uncle, grandpa or cat daddy...lol.

Crunching, crinkling, Autumn leaves... freebie

Remember when you were a kid playing with the leaves outside.
Everyday going to school and coming home....I kicked the big puffy leaves...the smell is still in my memory.
We also made outdoor house with leaves....making a layout of a house with leaf borders...so much fun.
This design above reminds me of all the simple fun.
Save and make into a framed stitchery!
*Please note that all freebies are for you to use to make a couple finished goods (no mass producing) and a couple gifts...they are still legally my designs.

This week I have my vintage style tags on sale...
It is only $1.99!
There are 7 tags and banner in this set, ready to use on your dolls, primitive things, hanging on pegs or prim trees, and of course for gift tags.
There are fun sayings like: Merry christmas, to you!, Show me the merry, Oh the wild joy of christmas, Christmas party 1905, and It's a wonderful life!....
with lovely collages I created with old photos and artwork.

Here I put the tags on some small quilted bags for gift giving.

The tall one is a wine bag...these are just simple quilt blocks and triangles...put together.
There are lots of uses for these...and are printable forever.

I painted another snowman painting...just  want to share the steps with you....
First I take a large canvas and cover it with old book pages.
I added a house with pretty papers and started painting my snowmen....making sure to leave some of the print to see through.
I added a walkway from the house to the snowmen.
I added a sky too.
and many hearts....
Here comes a tree and details to the house....like the door and windows.
another tree, details the the house and eyes for the snowmen....
a nose for each snowman and arms....
more snow....
more details with a stabilo pencil....
looking sharper...cute and corny!
and here it is ready...it is similiar to one I painted a few years ago....
but this one has two snowmen and more detail.
a little shiny in this one,  but very fun!
I am happy!

Sweet Witch Freebie design

I just can't stop thinking Halloween!
I know it will all be over soon...so I got to squeeze in all the scary movies, all my last minute fun projects and some party ideas research.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the quilt show....which was fabulous....I decided to take a break and paint a little something.
This is sweet Jack.....it is a large 10 x 14....My pic is a bit fuzzy .....sorry.
I so enjoyed this that I got some more supplies to paint with...next one might be a Christmas one.
--------------------------------------------
I also made some dolls for myself....why not?
I bought The Sweet Meadows farm pattern on etsy.
I made three....they can be friends forever!
I made two orange and one black....all the faces are different.
she is holding my vintage rattle.
The dresses are from fabric I got this summer while visiting Seattle.
This one has a candy corn button.
I hardly ever just make something for myself...so this was a real treat.
I might have to name them!
This was a fun and easy.

This weekend we are seeing "Crimson peek" and we are also celebrating my husband's birthday...so lots of fun ahead.

Painting....with my daughter!

I have been taking a painting class from Mindy Lacefield called "permission to play"
It is a blast...I recommend taking online course from you favorite artists....not only is it fun, but It is great to learn!
Above is my first "Big eyes" girl.
There is alot of layering with paper and painting in layers too.
Here is the same painting mid way through....creepy!!!
Here is my daughter Selina's painting of  a big eyes frozen character....Elsa!
I must tell you...we had a blast painting together...watching the video...going over techniques....so fun!
Here is her painting mid way through...amazing how things change.

Then on Saturday...we decided to do another on a smaller wood plaque.
I chose purple hair and a smile...lol
Seems she is thinking of love.
Selina was thinking...Alice in wonderland.
She is a big fan of the Tim Burton movie!
It is so nice to have your teenage daughter request to paint another!
...then she went out on a movie date with her boyfriend.

Good times!!!

Painting some cheerful subjects

I have been painting again...having fun.
Using colors I love.
Letting go of what I think I should do and just play.
I also love to use inspiring quotes.
Here is my purple haired gal.
These are small pieces of board that my hubby cut out for me from a plank of wood.
I just sanded them and coated with gesso...then put on layers of paper and paint.
I do many at the same time...because when one piece is drying...I can fiddle with another one.
Tabby cat in the flowers...
Goldie locks pal...the little bear eating her porridge.
She is "Happy".
I believe I shared these ones last week or so...
They all need a protective coat.
This is "Hope"
Not sure how I feel about this one...I like it and yet I want to change it.

Blue haired gal....I love her.
I am still working on her.
Bunny with his egg tower....not done with this one either.
I can't decide what else to add.
Pinky!
She is thinking big....with her giant flower.
I saw some huge huge flowers at Hobby lobby...each one was expensive.

Come to Thrifty Thursday!!  Come to the Pin me Linky Party!
